Parents are the largest voting group in the US, but they are also the most underrepresented. With unpredictable economic conditions, most parents could use financial assistance with the rising costs they face from every avenue. In Hawaii there is relief available through the Child Care Connection Hawaii (CCCH) subsidy program, which has two (2) subsidy programs:

The Child Care Connection Hawaii (CCCH) subsidy program is available to low-income families. This fund aims to sustain their employment, educational efforts or job training by providing a subsidy for children in the care of DHS-approved child care providers. To qualify for this subsidy program, families need to meet income and activity requirements, unless child care is required for protective purposes.

The Preschool Open Doors (POD) program is a separate subsidy program with limited funding. It provides services throughout the Hawaiian Islands to families sending their preschool aged children to a licensed school prior to their eligibility for kindergarten. Timing is critical for this award, as there is a time-limited application period established and published each year.

The goal of POD is to promote school readiness for children, and the program focuses on meeting the needs of the child. Parents are not required to have an eligible activity, unlike the CCCH Subsidy program, but they must meet income and other eligibility requirements.
